Frequently Asked Questions |
Here are answers to some of the questions we're often asked about our relocation service.
Is there an application fee? We don't charge a fee when you apply to relocate with us, nor do we charge for the referencing/application process.
Will I have a choice of home? Yes, if your reference application is successful then you'll be offered a choice of homes. If you'd like to take a look at the homes we have available, please click here.
I receive Housing Benefit - will there be a top up to pay? No, as long as you're receiving the One Bed Rate, then your Housing Benefit will pay your rent in full with no top up to pay.
I don't receive Housing Benefit - can I still apply? Yes, all applicants are welcome. If you're not eligible for Housing Benefit you'll be told what the rent is for the property that you've chosen.
I have pets - can I still apply? Yes, AMRP is a Pet Friendly landlord. We work closely with Farplace Animal Rescue in the North East to ensure that people are offered housing that allows them to bring their pets. We have a special tenancy agreement for your pet(s), so that you can be sure there'll be no problems down the line.
How will I get to my new home when I arrive? As part of the process, we'll arrange a taxi to meet you at the train or bus station that you're arriving at. It'll take you to your new home, along with any belongings or pets that are travelling with you. There's no extra charge for this service.
Can you help with setting up utilities and other services? Yes of course, we can offer dedicated support to help you establish your utility accounts, register for Housing Benefit with your new local authority, and signpost you to local amenities and transport links to help you get to know your new area. If you're referred as needing a local support worker, we will help to arrange this too.
What happens once I've moved in? As with all AMRP tenants, you'll have as assigned Housing Co-ordinator who will manage your tenancy and property. You'll be able to contact them if you have any questions about your home, settling in, if you need to report a repair or if you have any questions about your rent or Housing Benefit. They'll conduct an inspection with you shortly after you've settled in, and then they'll leave you to enjoy your new home and surroundings unless you need them. You're also welcome to visit us during office hours at our base in Ferryhill, Co. Durham. If you need to drop in paperwork, leave a message for your Co-ordinator or access help and support with things like utilities, Housing Benefit or your rent we're available from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
I can't bring my furniture with me. If you don't have furniture, you can't arrange for it all to be moved, or if you don't want to bring any furniture with you, we can help you to start again. We've developed links with the County Durham Furniture Help Scheme, so you'll have access to low-cost furniture and white goods to get you started. You can find out more by visiting them at www.cdfhs.org.uk. |
